The past week of Bomber tennis has been mentally and physically challenging for players to coaches and everyone in between. The Mountain Home Bomber Tennis Team traveled to Russellville for the 5A West Tennis Conference where the Lady Bombers took home the championship trophy and the Bombers came in a close runner up.

Junior Macie Heidi won the girls singles draw 6-0 6-0, 6-0 6-0, 6-0 6-1 and fought hard to win in the finals against Siloam Springs with a score of 6-0 6-7 (5-7) 6-3. She will be seeded #4 for state. Senior Micaela McLean and Junior Cambelle Lance won the girls doubles draw 6-0 6-0, 6-1 6-0, 6-2 6-0, and 6-0 6-0 in the finals against Van Buren. The duo will be seeded #2 for state. Senior Dodge Harris fell in the semi finals against Van Buren. He then fell to Russellville in the third place match to be seeded #4 for state. Senior Alex Arp and Junior Jacob Czanstkowski fell in the finals to Greenwood 4-6, 6-3, 5-7 and will be seeded #4 for state.

As state quickly approaches the qualifying players are feeling the pressure to bring back a win for Mountain Home.

“I feel pretty confident going into state, but the competition is going to be much harder.” States Junior Macie Heidi. Heidi went through some obstacles during the finals that almost took her down but she fought through it and brought home the win for girls singles.

Senior Alex Arp states that, “[I] feel confident that we can go in with confidence, try our best, and be happy with the outcome.” Arp and Junior Jacob Czanstkowski are the #1 boys doubles team for Mountain Home and survived the excruciating three-hour match against Greenwood.

Class 5A State will have harder competition for the Mountain Home Bombers but the team is confident they can go in and bring home the win. Good luck Bombers!
