“The happiest moment of my life was when my nephew was born. He changed everything for the better.”

A turning point in his life which was slightly over a year ago. His sister’s boyfriend had been mentally struggling and tragically took his own life on September 25, 2019. “He and I were extremely close, just like brothers,” he elaborated, “It made me see things differently for others going through the same situation as him.”

“I want to be someone that people can come and talk to and get advice from, whether they’re depressed or have issues going on,” stated Manes.

Brett was born and raised in Mountain Home by his parents with his sister Madison Manes, an MHHS graduate. Growing up he’s been close with his sister who has influenced quite a bit in his life. According to Manes, as a young child, many things were given to him, changing how he views various simple things. Coming from a loving and caring environment has helped shape him into the person he is today for the better. Manes aspires to be the person that can hold family and friends together and keep everyone uplifted.

At the end of the day, Brett cares deeply for those involved in his life and hopes more than anything to be a good person for their lives as well.
