The Bombers were down by 10 in the third quarter before reeling off 28 unanswered points to beat Van Buren 49-37. The game featured two improbable touchdowns by Mountain Home, both involving punts, five lead changes, and quarterback Bryce McKay had another huge night in leading his team to a win. The Bombers were also able to convert two Van Buren turnovers into touchdowns.

The Pointers scored on their first possession, but Mountain Home was able to tie the game on a crazy play by Walker. The Bombers were facing a 4th and 22 with Walker in punt formation. The snap was bad, and McKay scooped it up and raced 59 yards for the touchdown.

McKay added two more rushing touchdowns in the first half, including a 49-yard scamper.

Van Buren was up at halftime and pushed the lead to 31-21 with a touchdown on their first possession of the second half. That’s when Mountain Home responded by scoring 28 straight points.

McKay hooked up with Logen Walker on a 59-yard touchdown pass, Brody Patterson blocked a punt that was scooped up and returned for a touchdown by Colby Lockhart, McKay and Walker connected for a 37-yard scoring play, and Brock Bogy tacked on a 9-yard touchdown run.

McKay finished the night with 204 yards and three touchdowns rushing and 144 passing yards with two TDs. Walker had five catches for 144 yards and two scores. Gage Hershberger added 102 rushing yards on 21 carries.

The Bombers improve to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the 5A West. The Pointers are also now 3-3 and 1-2.
